Attendance (Student Check In)

Summary

The Align check-in system allows you to check-in students into classes at various locations around campus.

Configure Check-In System

1. Setup your Rooms in Room Management
2. Create a specific Check-in API Account.
3. Register Check-In Machine
4. Configure attendance check-in limits for Early, Tardy, and Absent check-ins.
5. Configure a background image (Align support request)
6. Check-in in Students

Room Management

Go to Room Management and create a room for each location you are going to place a check-in machine.

Create an account with API Access

The best practice here is to create a separate account for use when setting up your check-in machines.  The check-in machines require a valid API key to register check-ins in the system.

The reason for this best practice is that when staff leaves the organization, if they have used their own API key when registering the check-in machines, then your check-in machines may become disabled when you disabled your staff member who has left the organization.  To set up your Check-in Machine User Account:

1. Create a Check-In user account.
2. Give the user account the API Access permission

3. Once you've saved the user account with the newly granted API Access permission, there will be a field that displays the API Key.  Select and Copy that API key.  You will need this when you set up your machine.

   

Register a Check-in Machine

You will need to register each machine you wish to use as a check-in machine:

1. Navigate to your school's domain and add /student_check_ins to the end of your domain.  eg my.school.domain.com /student_check_ins
2. If the machine has never been registered, it will redirect to 
   1. Enter your API Key
   2. Give your machine a name (eg Left Auditorium)

   3. Choose a Room Location (see Room Management)
